Hi,
I've been having gel nails for a few years and they usually last me 3-4 weeks before needing them re-doing (however I go every 2 weeks as I like changing the colour )I have my own UV light and gel polish so I do my nails all the time .Gel nail varnish will look much better than polish and last much longer without chipping. It wont affect your nails as long as you resist the urge to peel them off an get it done properly! but that's personal choice.
